I have been teaching music professionally for many years and I realized that most teachers tend to drag things out for way longer than necessary. They will spend months on boring scales and finger exercises without moving forward and doing what the student wants to do. This allows them to make the most money possible from the student while the students is patiently waiting to learn the material they want to play!
